Načeva
Singer Monika Načeva is coming to D29 with her new band and new album Jdem temným dnem.
The project of one of the most prominent and interesting figures in the Czech music scene brings musical renditions of poems by artists persecuted by the former regime in the 1960s to 1980s, continuing from her previous album Zdivočelí koně. Jdem temným dnem features ten songs with lyrics by Šárka Smazalová, Vladimíra Čerepková, Ivan Blatný, Jan Hanč, Pavel Zajíček, Milan Koch, and Věra Jirousová.
In her brand-new band, Načeva has succeeded in bringing together musicians and sound alchemists from opposite poles of the Czech alternative scene: on drums, Zdeněk Regál Jurčík (Lvmen, Tomáš Palucha, Priessnitz, Kafka Band), on keyboards Vojtěch Procházka (Vertigo, Harpreet Bansal, Freetown Quartet, Mikoo, Sisa Fehér, Talaqpo), and on bass guitar Michal Koval (Masomlejn, DG 307, who also recorded the album Nebe je rudý with Načeva).
Monika Načeva emerged in the early 90s as the singer of the dark poems of Jáchym Topol. Her career is closely linked with guitarist Michal Pavlíček, with whom she still performs and collaborates today. She often experiments with electronic music (e.g., collaborations with DJ Gus and DJ Five). "Načeva is an original interpreter of poetry, which she perceives with sensitivity and strength, and her performance has the potential to bring it closer to people who might not otherwise find their way to it – and in this, she is unique in our country," writes journalist Olga Stehlíková. As an actress, Monika Načeva has performed at A studio Rubín, HaDivadlo, and Divadlo Sklep. She has collaborated with theater groups Secondhand Woman and Vosto5 and performs in the children's theater Minor. She is also the creator of the regular show Sedmé nebe on Czech Radio Vltava.
