Tue 13/5 19:00
Old Time Dixieland

A group of eight young students from the Pardubice Conservatory will present the best of Dixieland – an early style of jazz that originated in New Orleans in the early 20th century.

Traditionally, it is performed by small bands consisting of brass and rhythm instruments, such as cornet (trumpet), clarinet, trombone, banjo, tuba, double bass, and drums. The style is rooted in African American musical traditions, ragtime, blues, and military marching bands, and is known for its cheerful and energetic atmosphere. Although Dixieland originated more than a hundred years ago, it remains highly popular not only around the world but also in the Czech Republic.
